The project is located in the small village of Gorna Breznitsa, near Kresna, revealing the beautiful views of nature.
Reconstruction of an old school with a spacious yard. Bringing new life to the building, turning it into a guest house and the large yard into a outdoor area with pools and a seasonal bar under the existing perennial trees.
The existing building was constructed of stone and brick walls, a slab between the first and second floors, and a wooden uninhabitable pitched roof.
After an on-site inspection, the structure of the building was found to be in a condition where it could be reconstructed rather than demolished. Only the roof structure is in poor condition, requiring its replacement with a new one.
The rooms are spacious, suitable for self-contained rental units.
On the first level there is an entrance vestibule, a tavern/restaurant with outdoor area, a kitchen to serve the guests of the complex, storage rooms and toilets and changing rooms for the pools.
The existing staircase, located in the entrance hall, leads to the second level, which houses eight private rooms, each with a bathroom and toilet.
There is also a third level, which is divided into two parts – a common room, which is accessible to all, with large verandas revealing beautiful views, and a suite.
The idea for the vision of the complex is inspired by the traditional Bulgarian architecture – details and materials – wood and stone.
Spacious balconies are an integral part of the Bulgarian house. The project includes several balconies, revealing the beautiful views of the surrounding nature.
Traditional Bulgarian architecture is rich in types of wooden structures and assemblies between the elements. Researching the right type of wooden construction and creating details that stand up naturally and follow logic is a real challenge.
This traditional look carries over inside the building.
Each of the rooms is studded with wood detail, on the walls and ceiling. The great height of the rooms allows creating a ceiling with details, alternating wood and white plaster.
The furniture is also individually detailed, solid wood giving weight to the furniture and at the same time bringing comfort and warmth.
The halls are spacious, with large windows.
Well-chosen details highlight the windows as well as the light fixtures.
The space outside allows for different types of activities – sports, rest and relaxation, sunbathing. The seasonal bar is nestled among the existing century-old trees, suitable for the summer heat that is typical of this location.
Water areas are always a good addition to the attractions in a complex, especially when there is the presence of spring mineral water. There are two small pools with warm water and one large pool with cool water. The large pool is of a size and shape suitable for both relaxation and sport.
